Artist's Statement
I am drawn to patterns in both nature and man-made objects as well as the results of nature's effects upon these objects. While I try to take an excellent photo straight from the camera, with minimal post-processing on the computer, I have recently been expanding into the world of black and white images. Whether color or black and white, I find it fun to play around with an image, bringing out an emotional response from the viewer.
Biography
Linda Carlsen Sperry’s work presented in A MOMENT IN FRAME, Photography, are examples of the artist’s compositions of architectural elements in the landscape, using both black and white, and color images. Sperry’s interest in the patterns and interactions between architecture and nature is expressed in a way to evoke familiar, emotional responses in the viewer. With an education in civil engineering, the artist has been a Vermont State Parks Photographer, published work in Vermont Magazine, and currently works as a free-lance photographer with the Brattleboro Reformer. An avid appreciator of photography since her formative years, in rural New York State, Sperry used her first Kodak Brownie camera, along with inspiration from a weekly exchange of photography books from the local bookmobile, to begin a lifelong pursuit to keep the camera clicking.
