Artist's Statement

There is no shortage of inspiration for landscape paintings when living in New England. I take my camera when driving the backroads, looking for the next scenic view that calls to me to be captured in a painting. There is almost an urgency at times to preserve the pristine simplicity of the natural world as we know it today.

Statement about works in ART FOR ALL Seasonal Group Show

The landscapes displayed in this show are watercolor paintings that capture the stark but lovely terrain of winter in New England. There is a quiet stillness to this season that even with its limited color palate comes with the contrast of light and shadow to portray a moment of serenity.

Biography

Susan McNulty is an artist pursuing her lifelong interest in painting. Inspired by art and observation as a child, McNulty began studying with Venus Paradise Paint-By-Number art kits, and quickly progressed to charcoal drawing and oil painting. As an adult, McNulty has continued painting in watercolor, and finds new inspiration by experimentation with new mediums, including oil pastels. Travels to Paris, especially historical art supply stores, keeps McNulty passionate to continuing to capture in her art the scenic views her native New England.
