Steve P Kovach
Steve P Kovach, American, b. 1956, Elizabeth, NJ, based in Peru, VT
The purpose of my paintings is to capture that fleeting moment of light that one comes across quite accidentally but transforms an every day landscape into something sublime. Although I do work plein airoccasionally, I always have a camera on hand for that moment when suddenly a scenic jewel will appear. Weather produced in the studio or Plein air I like to engage the viewer to a meditative moment of beauty.
Statement about works in ART FOR ALL Seasonal Group Show
Coming to Vermont three years ago has truly inspired and re-energized me as an artist. These are some of the first samples of being in Vermont.
Steve P Kovach is an oil painter working in the traditions of American Realism, Tonalism, and Impressionist Landscape painting. Kovach, a self-taught artist, began his early career painting large-scale murals, custom fine art, and plein air painting. Finding inspiration in the natural beauty of the American landscape, the artist is driven to capture the fleeting light and mood of his subjects. Canal Street Art Gallery is pleased to premiere two works by Kovach in the ART FOR ALL Seasonal Group Show, “Owls Head” and “Dorset Quarry”.
