Artist Statement
I am an entirely self-taught silversmith and jewelry designer and have been working at the craft for over 40 years. I owned and ran an art gallery in Baltimore, Maryland where I successfully sold my work for several years in the 1990s. Since then other interests and various entrepreneurial efforts—from free-lance writing to publishing magazines—from graphic design to web publishing, have been my major professional focus, but I have held fast to my creative metalwork throughout the years. Most recently I am enjoying hand-fabricating realistic botanical pieces in sterling, fine (100%) silver, and copper. All this work was created in 2018.
Biography
Bonnie North uses sterling silver and copper to create sculptural, unique artist-made jewelry. North draws from her vast experience in a range of creative pursuits to produce the graceful and bold designs for her botanically inspired work. The artist’s fine attention to elegant detail works in harmony with her compositions of elements inspired by nature. After over 40 years of honing her craft, Canal Street Art Gallery is pleased to have the opportunity to exhibit this self-taught silversmith’s work in “Anniversary!”
