Touring Exhibitions Program

since 2021

“Today’s galleries must be welcoming and accessible community institutions. This may be accomplished by providing art as an entry point to learn about ourselves and others.” -Mike Noyes, Director, Canal Street Art Gallery

The Touring Exhibitions Programs mission is directed by the gallery’s ‘Inclusive and Accessible Art Action Plan’.  The program seeks to enhance the creative capacities of communities with interactive and educational art exhibits.

Each exhibition offers ways for audiences to engage such as an ‘Affordable Art Wall’, the ‘Community Art Table’ and ‘Tell Your Truth’ stickers. Additional supporting elements include show catalogs, educational materials, community building public events such as opening receptions, artist talks and live music, as well as original art for sale.

This group show is a collaborative exhibition featuring artwork from the Canal Street Art Gallery’s roster of represented artists and curated by the Bellows Falls gallery in the galleries of Main Street Arts, located in nearby Saxtons River. Main Street Arts, an arts institution of over thirty years, is a catalyst for the arts in southern Vermont. A place of inclusion, it provides a gathering space where all are welcome, regardless of experience, ability, age, or financial resources. MSA works tirelessly to offer opportunities that nurture both the artistic and the larger human spirit and to provide a place to explore yourself and your art, find deep friendships and acceptance, grow, and be nurtured.

The Canal Street Art Gallery represents and exhibits local artists working in all styles and mediums while holding an open space where all creative voices may be heard to build awareness, community, and the benefits from a creative economy for all. Important to the Canal Street Art Gallery’s mission is the recognition of art-making as both income and expense to the artist. The selling of an artist's work can have a direct effect on their ability to afford the time and materials necessary to create more. CSAG takes pride in showing art with a wide range of pricing from low to moderate, making the purchase of original art attainable to all collectors including the seasoned, new, and unexpected.
