Artist's Statement
I finally became a Vermonter after graduating from UVM in 1989. Last fall, my husband and I moved here for his teaching position at Vermont Academy. I have spent the last 35 years as a photographer. Last fall, I quickly caught onto the way to survive the winter as a true Vermonter … Keep busy and make do with what’s on hand.
With boxes of unfinished watercolor paintings and unframed photographs, a pair of scissors, and an X-Acto knife, I was surprised discover how easy it was to re-create some of the beautiful scenery sI was seeing every day.
These pieces are multimedia collages consisting of watercolor paintings, photographs and birch bark from my surroundings on campus at Vermont Academy. Frames are sourced from local thrift shops and often include the original art underneath my Collages to give someone else’s art some love and a new life!
