Artist’s Statement
“It is such a joy to be able to draw or paint what I see, to engage the beauty of the world and let it flow through my mind and my hands onto paper. I want to remain open to the impressions, merge them with a life full of experience and thought, and create a statement, whether as a story or an image.
I would like to see my work, now in the Autumn of my life, to contribute to the increasingly pressing need to communicate, not only to share facts but to reach into people’s hearts to understand Nature and both what threatens it as well as its wonder. Children are a very important part of this: they are the future.”
-Charles Norris Brown
Biography
Charles Norris-Brown’s work bring us an intimate narrative through portraiture and the study of the human form in nature. Norris-Brown’s work is informed by his professional background in sociology and social anthropology. The artist’s anthropological research on people of the forests, and their place in the health of the ecosystems there, has brought Norris-Brown to his current focus on the creation of art and writing for children books.
