The Interactive Group Show Program seeks to enhance the creative capacity of our community with engaging and educational art exhibits encouraging audiences to appreciate a cohesive collection of artwork, learn about local artists, and even participate themselves through art making and writing.

Saturation
Canal Street Art Gallery presents: the ‘Saturation’ show, open May 16th through July 13th. Join the gallery on May 16th from 5-7pm for Free Self Expression on Bellows Falls 3rd Fridays and an opening reception for the artists. The first exhibition in the Interactive Group Show Program, titled ‘Saturation’, is a collection of artworks to impress audiences with color. Visitors are invited to experiment and enjoy color themselves by using art supplies from the community art table, then to participate in the show by adding their colors to a community collage. Written material for the show includes an essay on color theory, along with statements from each artist on their use and relationship to color.

See It
Canal Street Art Gallery presents: the ‘See It’ show, open July 18th through September 19th. Join the gallery on July 18th from 5-7pm for Free Self Expression on Bellows Falls 3rd Fridays and an opening reception for the artists. All gallery events are free and open to the public, for wheelchair accessibility call 802-289-0104.
‘See It’ is a show which prompts the viewer to look, learn, and respond. Wall information in the exhibition features statements of intent from each artist on their work and how they would like it to be seen. Take home trifold brochures accompany the show with an essay outlining a brief history of how art may be looked at and interpreted. The exhibit encourages visitors to respond to specific artworks using the community art table and tell your truth stickers. Responses, critiques and contributions are displayed on the wall next to the artwork they are about, accepting all comments and questions.

Made It
Canal Street Art Gallery presents: the ‘Made It’ show, open September 19th through November 15th. Join the gallery on September 19th from 5-7pm for Free Self Expression on Bellows Falls 3rd Fridays and an opening reception for the artists. All gallery events are free and open to the public, for wheelchair accessibility call 802-289-0104.
‘Made It’ is a show investigating materials, techniques, processes and practices. The exhibit offers wall information which includes an essay by the curator on the creative process, illustrations of each artist at work in their studio, as well as their materials and work area. For a unique twist, each artist is asked to write a ‘recipe’ for one of their artworks in the show. This includes a list of ‘ingredients’, along with ‘instructions’. To further engage with the title of the exhibit, visitors may experiment with art materials used by artists in the show at the community art table’.

Join the gallery on November 21st from 5-7pm for Free Self Expression on Bellows Falls 3rd Fridays and an opening reception for the artists. All gallery events are free and open to the public, for wheelchair accessibility call 802-289-0104.
‘View’ is a show exploring ways artists interpret their surroundings. Wall information in the exhibition features illustrations of each artist in the surroundings which inspire them, along with statements on how observation influences their work. Take hope tri fold brochures offer an essay on the role of perception and frame of reference in art-making. Visitors are challenged to look, then make observations, questions, and criticisms. With the use of the community art table and tell your truth stickers, audiences may engage in a variety of ways to add their own view to the show.

Exhibition Requirements For All Shows
- Original artworks, created by the artist, must be submitted.
- All artwork must be for sale.
- Two-dimensional work must be wired to hang, framed, or otherwise ready to install.
- Three-dimensional work must be delivered with any necessary stands or bases.
- Jewelry must be delivered with displays, individually packed.
- Deliver all work to the gallery packed and wrapped for transport, work will remain packed as delivered until installation.
- Packing material and boxes will be stored at the Gallery.
- Include any special handling or installation instructions.
