Artist’s Statement

“This work represents my Plein Air work which I most love to do.  When I’m out on location, I find a scene with alluring light, and wonderful natural elements which lead you through the painting.

I also love photography, flower arranging, gardening, and long walks with my dog.  I am a miniature collector, and have collected six inch scale miniatures since I was eighteen.  I’m now working on creating a new stage for these objects beyond the three story apartment they reside in.”

Biography

Anne Smith is an oil painter informed by the film industry, in which she has had a long career of directing and producing.  

Smith is a painter of subjects, of particular places, scenes, people, animals, and objects which she has shared a moment with, had an experience; a story to tell.  Her compositions frame her subjects with enough context to draw the viewer in, then open to a broader narrative; a story which we are now part of, and which we must follow to find our own place in.

Smith’s is a journey of personal artistic fulfillment, of finding joy in the telling of the story of her world.
