Artist's Statement 

Most of my work is figurative. I enjoy exploring line and mark making, and painting in oils.

Biography

Kathy Lavine, based in Bellows Falls, Vermont creates drawings and paintings representing the human figure, often drawn from life and in large scale. Lavine’s works on paper often combine materials such as charcoal, watercolor, ink and acrylic. Paintings done in oil by Levine often are abstracted figures and show the artist’s fascination with the human spirit and it’s infinite reaches through our psyche and our art. 

Lavine’s art education includes The Pratt Institute of Art, the Art Institute of Boston, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and Mass Art. She has lived and worked in many artist communities, most notable the Piano Factory and Fort Point Artist Community. The artist has worked in corporate design groups and taught at the University of the Virgin Islands.
