Workshops with Mike Noyes
Drawing
Up to 6 participants per workshop
$15 each
Learn and practice drawing basics using observation of objects in the studio. Emphasis is on line, value, shapes, proportion and perspective. Exploring a variety of drawing implements is encouraged, such as pencil, graphite sticks, charcoal, conte crayon, pens and markers, along with sketch paper, mixed media paper, pastel paper and charcoal paper. Participants may bring their own materials and use the studio supplies.

Making Oil Paint
Up to 3 participants per workshop
$45 each
Experience color through powdered pigments and learn to make oil paint by building your own custom palette. Choose a collection of over eighty colors, such as Venetian Red, Cadmium Red Maroon, or Alizarin Crimson. Learn to grind and disperse powdered pigments into linseed oil on a marble stone board with a palette knife and a glass muller. Participants may choose up to three colors to make small amounts of paint to be stored for later use in available empty 10ml aluminum paint tubes. Materials for additional colors may be purchased from Mike.

Making Watercolor Paint
Up to 3 participants per workshop

Experience color through powdered pigments and learn to make watercolor paint by building your own custom palette. Choose from a collection of over eighty colors such as Mineral Violet, Cobalt Violet Rose, or Ultramarine Violet. Learn to grind and disperse powdered pigments into gum arabic, water, and honey, on a marble stone board with a palette knife and a glass muller. Participants may choose up to four colors to make small amounts of paint to be stored for later use in available empty watercolor pans. Materials for additional colors may be purchased from Mike.
